As Managing Director and Co-Founder of Innovation Capital, Mr. Sodl oversees a firm that has established itself as one of the leading middle market investment banks covering the gaming, leisure, restaurant and retail industries. Mr. Sodl has previously served in senior positions at Merrill Lynch, Schroder Wertheim and Murphy Noell. Mr. Sodl has successfully orchestrated public debt and equity offerings, restructurings, merger and acquisition transactions and private placements for more than 100 clients over the course of his 15 year career covering the industry. Mr. Sodl is widely quoted in business and news publications including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, BusinessWeek and the Las Vegas Sun and was named to Investor Dealers' Digest's "40 under 40" list of leading investment bankers in 2006.
Mr. Sodl's client base includes public and private gaming operators, Native American tribes, management groups, equipment manufacturers and private investor groups. Mr. Sodl's past clients have included MGM Mirage, Mandalay Resort Group, Caesars Entertainment, Aladdin Gaming Holdings, CKE Restaurants, Furr's Restaurant Group, Miami Jai-Alai, President Casinos, Nevada Gold and Casinos, Isle of Capri Casinos, American Racing and Entertainment and Jumer's Casino Rock Island. In the Native American segment, Mr. Sodl has worked with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Snoqualmie Indian Tribe in Washington, the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians. In aggregate, Mr. Sodl has been involved in transactions aggregating over $20 billion over the course of his career.
Mr. Sodl earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Columbia University and a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from The Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Sodl is a frequent speaker at gaming conferences and has written numerous articles for gaming publications pertaining to financial distress, capital markets and corporate finance.
